FRANK MIR

Francisco Santos Mir III (born May 24, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American mixed martial artist, competing in the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and a UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.

His father convinced him to begin wrestling, on the basis that it could help him avoid submissions; however, Frank attended Bonanza High School in Las Vegas, Nevada where he had a record of 44–1. He started wrestling during his junior year and lost his first nine matches but won the state championship as a senior in 1998. He was also on the school's football team that reached the Southern Zone semifinals in 1997 and where he played as fullback and defensive end. He also took up track and field in 1998 where his discus throw of 177 feet, 10 inches is still a Sunset Regional record.

On September 17, 2004, Mir was knocked off his motorcycle by a car. The accident caused a break in Mir's femur and tore all the ligaments in his knee. The bone had broken in two places but the injury did not end Mir's career as a fighter. Major surgery was needed to repair the bone in his leg. An interim heavyweight title was created whilst Mir was recovering from the injury, which Andrei Arlovski won by defeating Tim Sylvia by way of a first round submission. On August 12, 2005, the UFC learned that Mir was not able to fight Andrei Arlovski in October as scheduled, thus Mir was stripped of the title after 14 months, and Arlovski was promoted to the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.

In the post-fight press conference Mir expressed his desire to fight a rubber match with Brock Lesnar.
Mir is scheduled to face Shane Carwin for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship on March 27, 2010 at UFC 111.

FEDOR "The Lost Emperor" EMELIANENKO

Fedor Vladimirovich Emelianenko (born September 28, 1976) is a Russian heavyweight mixed martial arts fighter. He is the current World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts Heavyweight Champion and the last holder of the Pride Heavyweight Championship. He has won numerous tournaments and accolades in multiple sports, most notably the Pride 2004 Grand Prix and the World Combat Sambo championship on four occasions, as well as medaling in the Russian national Judo championship.

Fedor Emelianenko was born in 1976 in the city of Rubizhne, Luhansk in what was then the Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine).In 1978, when he was two, his family moved within the Soviet Union to Stary Oskol, Belgorod of the Russian SFSR. His mother, Olga Fedorovna, was a teacher and his father, Vladimir Alexandrovich Emelianenko, was a welder. Emelianenko is the second child in the family and has an older sister and two younger brothers, including professional mixed martial artist Aleksander Emelianenko. Fedor also trains with his youngest brother Ivan, who has competed in Combat Sambo, and plans to begin a career in MMA in either 2009, or 2010.

MAURICIO "SHOGUN" RUA

Mauricio was born in Curitiba, Brazil. His family also lives in Curitiba. His father is a successful businessman that runs his own business. His mother was a track athlete and is currently a marathon runner. The Rua brothers occasionally run marathons as well. He has an older brother Murilo (born 1980) and a younger brother Marco "Shaolin" Rua. Both are mixed martial artists training at Chute Boxe, though Marco does not compete on a professional level.

Shogun himself has stated that he began training in Muay Thai at the age of 15, and began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 17. (In contrast, Pride announcer Mauro Ranallo once claimed that Shogun began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at the age of six and Muay Thai at seven, and achieved a 10–0 Muay Thai record.) He was very successful in BJJ championships at the Blue and Purple belt level. Rua followed his older brother's footsteps after Murilo started training at the Chute Boxe Academy. In addition to Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he also currently trains in wrestling and western boxing.

At UFC 104 Rua lost a controversial unanimous decision to UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. All three judges scored the bout 48-47 in favor of Machida in the fight. According to Judge Peoples, the judges favored Machida because he was considered to "land the more damaging strikes throughout the fight" and be the more 'effective aggressor". UFC President Dana White criticized the judging and stated during the post-fight press conference that he was "ready to make the rematch as fast as we can". The rematch will be held at an unannounced date.

MICHAEL JAI WHITE

Michael Jai White (born November 10, 1967) is an American actor and professional martial artist who has appeared in numerous films and television series. He is the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture, having starred as Al Simmons, the protagonist in the 1997 movie Spawn.

White was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and graduated from Central High School in 1982. He is an accomplished martial artist, holding seven legitimate black belts in Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, Kobudo, Goju Ryu, Tang Soo Do, Wushu and Kyokushin, with a specific focus in Kyokushin (although his style incorporates aspects of many different martial arts forms). White started martial arts training at the age of seven. In August 2005 he wed his girlfriend of two years, Courtenay Chatman, an OB/GYN who trained in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. The couple have a daughter named Morgan Michelle who was born on December 24, 2008. Michael has two sons from a previous relationship.
